Canyon House investigates the relationship between heavy mass and structural lightness. Designed for a multigenerational family, the project requires spaces that simultaneously protect and open to the surrounding environment.
The primary gesture is a massive concrete roof that seemingly floats above the ground plane, creating a continuous void for the living areas. Deep overhangs protect the interior from the harsh summer sun while framing specific views of the curated gardens.
