Phase 6 Cantilever

Five thousand square feet on a kanal in Phase 6, DHA Lahore, finished in August 2025. The house is built around a single move: the first floor is pushed out over the forecourt as one unbroken volume, and everything beneath it is left open. The cantilever is doing three jobs at once. It is a roof, it is the car porch, and it is the threshold.

A tall slot of black glazing cuts vertically through the white mass, the only interruption in an otherwise blank plane. Beside it the wall steps back, and a narrow slot of sky is left open directly above the entrance, so the approach to the front door is lit from overhead rather than from the street. The door is timber, set deep in the recess, planting on both sides of it.

The forecourt is laid in large grey stone flags, irregular and close-jointed, running from the gate to the porch without a step between them. A mature tree stands at the boundary, wide enough to shade most of the frontage.
